When did pajamas become acceptable to wear in public? Men (yes, men) women, and children (not your fault, kiddos) have become victims fashion laziness. Fuzzy slippers, pajama pants, cotton nightgown tops with jeans, etc… people are wearing this to the GROCERY STORE! A person chooses to wear bedtime/lounge wear to the grocery store then gets embarrassed when they run into someone they know. If you don’t want to be embarrassed, then don’t wear it in public. Seriously, when you don’t make the effort to actually get dressed to get your errands done, then you are setting yourself up for some level of embarrassment. What does your lack of care about your appearance say about you? Depressed, too comfortable, or low self-esteem? Had to take a family member to the hospital and didn’t have time to get dressed? Everyone has their reason for their attire of choice, however it is important to realize that you are making an impression on the people who see you in public even if it is a friend, family member, or colleague.
Great post! I absolutely feel the same way!

At least the pants are on right? LOL A few styles aren’t as favorable to certain body types for flattery purposes, but that’s a matter of opinion. For me it doesn’t really matter. The only difference between pants and pajamas is the fabric or print. Pants is pants is pants (unless you are from the UK then I mean trousers). 🙂

Hello, I actually found your blog because of your reply/comment over on Harsh Reality – OM’s blog.
ARGH!! This post hits one of my pet peeves – the only thing worse is the addition of slippers. Please, put some clothes on!!!
I disagree with one thing you said though, I don’t think most of the pajama wearin’ people feel any embarrassment at all and that is so sad.
Like it or not, we all do judge based on appearance, it does not need to be designer or fancy just neat and clean. Thanks for writing.

I think the Public PJ Wearers do get embarrassed once they run into a coworker but they take a chance stepping out in public anyway. Several years ago I ran into the grocery store to pick up a few items and ran into a coworker who was in flannel pajama bottoms, a t-shirt, and slippers. It was 7:00 in the evening. She blushed when she ran into me and could barely speak. The chances of us running into a familiar face are slim but it happens.
