Kitana and the Christmas Tree Update

I am 6 months behind my writing schedule. The Universe has added several curves to my path since mid-December, which has distracted me from many of my activities.

My last post was in early December and it was about my Tuxedo Terror and her first Christmas tree. I feel like I need to update and conclude Christmas 2018 before I write on other topics, so here is part two of Kitana vs The Christmas Tree

December 2, 2018 8:00 AM Kitana was named after Princess Kitana, a character from the Mortal Kombat game. She is a 4th generation barn cat who came to live with us at when she was 6 weeks old. She started off as Bailey’s kitten but now Bailey has become Kitana’s dog.

We bought an artificial tree last night and within five minutes of being home, Kitana knocked the box down. An hour after our arrival, she attempted to tear the box open with her teeth.

The box survived the night and we will assemble the tree when my partner gets home from duck hunting.

3:00 PM I’m in another room and I hear my partner yell, “Kitana, no!”

“What is she doing?”

“She’s trying to eat the top of the tree!”

He’s putting the tree together and she is “helping.”

The battle begins…

7:30 PM She wasn’t interested in the ornaments until we started hanging them but we finished the task. If you look under the tree, you’ll see Kitana. May the Force be with us.

10:30 PM I’m torn. I hear Kitana playing with the tree. If I get out of bed, she’ll attack my feet. Decisions decisions…

December 3 5:54 am She took a few ornaments off the tree last night and brought them in the bedroom. The tree was still standing when we came home from work, but there were a few ornaments on the living room floor (lightweight and not fragile). I left them out for her in hopes she would play with them and leave the others alone.

5:00 PM. Found a snowman bell, bow, and unbreakable ball in the living room. I put them back on the tree and our dog, Bailey, proclaimed herself as the Guardian of The Tree.

December 5 5:35 AM We had an ornament free floor when we came home from work yesterday; however, in Kitana fashion, she chose to play with the tree while there were a few people over last night.

She left the tree alone overnight but decided my Buddha incense burner was hers to play with. Don’t fuck with my Buddha.

5:00 PM Number of the day: 7 Sentence of the day: Kitana decorated the floor with 7 ornaments. This message has been brought to you by the letter K.

December 9 It’s day 7 of Kitana Versus The Christmas Tree 2018. I took the advice of a friend and hung orange peels in the tree to deter Kitana. It clearly didn’t work.

She likes batting orange peel.

December 10 She is guarding the tree! I attempted to add the ornaments she strategically removed. She ran across the room and attacked my hand every single time!

“Happiness is a tree, an open box, and a marshmallow.” ~ Kitana

December 16 I’m cleaning the kitchen and hear my partner say, “Kitana, the tree is not for eating. The ornaments aren’t either!” I’m sure she listened to him and immediately stopped. Hahahaha!

December 19 Kitana chilling by the tree

December 23 Kitana is territorial about “her” tree. When I fix the tree skirt or put presents under it, she tears across the room and attacks me. She is stashing her treasures under the tree skirt. None of my previous cats did this. I’m hoping she doesn’t unwrap gifts for us.

December 30 4:00 PM Kitana is all about my love and attention the last two days. I’m either trapped in Bizarro World, in the middle of a dream, or an episode of The Twilight Zone.

December 30 8:00 pm RED ALERT! RED ALERT! Kitana has climbed the tree! I knew this lovey dovey shit was a ploy!
